Privacy Policy
This policy covers the app The Shed for iPad and Mac and this website, shed.peterkurzok.de. The app is made by Peter Kurzok ("we", see Contact).
In short
- No account, no sign-in.
- No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no tracking.
- Your songs never leave your device. We run no server that could receive them.
Your songs
Songs you import into The Shed (from the Files app, or by drag and drop on the Mac) are copied into the app's storage on your device. The analysis (sections, bars, tempo, key), the stems and the chords are computed on the device and stored next to the song. Deleting a song deletes them; deleting the app deletes everything. We never receive your songs or anything computed from them.
Model downloads
On first use, The Shed downloads its separation model (about 425 MB) once from Hugging Face. If you have The Shed Pro and choose "Best quality", the app downloads a second model (about 701 MB) at that moment. Like any server, Hugging Face sees the IP address of your device and the files requested; no song and no identifier of yours is sent. Hugging Face's handling of this data is described in its privacy policy.
The chord recognition is part of the app and needs no download.
Purchases
The Shed Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment and your Apple Account; we never see your name, address or payment details. The app only learns from the App Store whether Pro is active on the device. See Apple's privacy policy.
Support e-mail
When you write to us, for example from the feedback row in the app's settings, the e-mail is sent by your own mail app. We use your address and your message only to answer you, and delete them when the matter is done.
No analytics, no tracking
The app contains no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising code and does not track you across apps or websites. Crash reports that you share with developers in your device's settings reach us through Apple, without any information that identifies you.
This website
This website consists of static pages served by Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads nothing from other servers; its fonts are served from this domain. To deliver the pages and protect them against attacks, Cloudflare processes the IP address of your device; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Children
The Shed collects no personal data, from children or anyone else.
Changes to this policy
If the app or this website changes how data is handled, we update this policy and the date at the top.
